Get Ghosted? Do These 5 Things Then Move On.

READ TIME - 3 MINUTES

Are recruiters ghosting or ignoring you? It’s super frustrating.

You apply, maybe even interview, and then... crickets.

No response, no updates.

It's like being left on read, but for your career.

Getting ghosted messes with your confidence and crushes your motivation.

But figuring out why it happens and how to handle it will keep you moving forward.

Common Solutions and Why They Might Not Work:

  • Non-Stop Follow-Ups: Sure, following up is good, but doing it too much can be annoying. Recruiters are busy, and constant emails might push them away.

  • Giving Up Too Soon: If you stop following up too quickly, you might miss out if the recruiter was planning to get back to you eventually.

  • Radical Changes: Overhauling your entire resume or application strategy because of ghosting is overkill, especially if the issue is minor.

A Better Approach For You:

  • Send a friendly follow-up email after a week. Show you're still interested and ask if they need anything else from you.

  • Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Keep applying to other jobs to stay active and positive.

  • Use the downtime to tweak your resume and cover letter. Ask friends or mentors for feedback.

  • Strengthen your professional connections. Sometimes a referral can get your resume noticed.

  • After interviews, send a thank-you note. Mention something specific from the interview to show you were paying attention and are genuinely interested.

Summary

  • Polite Persistence: Follow up without being annoying.
  • Keep Applying: Diversify your job applications.
  • Reflect and Improve: Continuously refine your materials.
  • Network More: Use your connections to find leads.
  • Thoughtful Follow-Up: Send personalized thank-you notes after interviews.
