My former colleague (who happens to also be a former teacher who is absolutely CRUSHING IT in corporate) shared her "get noticed right now" process and said "Hey Steph! Your audience will probably like this!"

I couldn't write this newsletter fast enough.
Use these same four steps Kate used to land three interviews in one week.
1. Research Target Roles
Start by identifying 5-10 job postings for roles that excite you.
Compile these postings into a single document for easy reference. The goal here is to see trends across job descriptions: What skills do they consistently require?
2. Skill Analysis with AI Tools
Use ChatGPT to analyze your target job descriptions and identify the critical hard and soft skills required.
- Go to ChatGPT, copy/paste all of the job descriptions for a specific role. Then, copy/paste this prompt:
- "Analyze each of these job descriptions for the role of [ROLE] and give me a list of the most important hard skills and a list of the most important soft skills in them that I need to highlight in my resume to be an outstanding, highly aligned candidate."
- Copy/paste the output into a word document. You want plenty of space for your thought activity.
- Using the output, do a "brain dump" activity. Write a list of 4-6 examples from your experiences that align with each skill. Do as much as you can. If you can't think of examples, that's okay. We'll cover the gaps a little later.
3. Tailor Your Resume for Each Job
Go back to ChatGPT: copy/paste the specific job description you're applying to (one at a time now), your thought activity examples, and your original resume.
- GPT PROMPT:
- "Rewrite my resume using all the information provided to make me an amazing candidate for this role. Ensure accuracy and update the language and tone to reflect my natural voice."
Pro Tip: Bold each hard and soft skill directly on your resume to make them stand out.
4. Optimize with Jobscan.io
Use Jobscan.io to compare your resume with specific job descriptions.
- Adjust as needed, either manually or with the help of ChatGPT.
- To fill any remaining gaps, provide ChatGPT with your teaching experience and ask it to generate bullet points that connect your skills to the job.
- GPT PROMPT:
- "I have experience as a [Your Teaching Role, e.g., Special Education Teacher] and am transitioning into a [New Role, e.g., Sales Development Representative]. The skills required for this role are: [List the Required Skills from the Job Posting]. I need you to help me create resume bullet points that showcase how my teaching experience aligns with these skills. Attached is my current resume for reference, which includes detailed descriptions of my responsibilities and achievements. Use the information from my resume to create specific examples that connect my experience to these skills, showing how my responsibilities and achievements in teaching can transfer to the new role. Structure each bullet point to clearly match the required skill, focusing on practical experiences I have had in teaching. The goal is to make my experience as a teacher directly relatable to the skills needed in the new role."
- Update your resume with accurate recommendations.
